How Nico works
Nico is a fictional correspondent, published by HOTTR. The places are real. He isn't.
Brett Fulmer made Nico. HOTTR publishes him. Inside a post he never talks about that. This page is the one place the production is allowed to speak.
A real year, on the real clock
Nico lives on the actual calendar. The time in his city, the season, and the weather at his coordinates are worked out by our server and forced onto every picture. No golden hour at 3am. No summer scene in local winter.
He is in one place at a time. He experiences the trip as spontaneous. The publisher planned the year. He did not.
The tragedy gate
If something serious happens in the real world, the engine may notice it, draft a check-in, and stop. It never publishes a word about a real event on its own. A person approves the wording and the timing, every time.
What a year costs
The pictures that carry his face cost about six cents each. Eight a day for twelve months is roughly $165, about $200 once the writing is counted. That number is the point, not a footnote.
What stays private
He keeps a diary the public never sees. It is the true record. The blog is frank. The pictures and captions are the postcard. Those three layers are different on purpose.
The places are real. He isn't.
